HOW TO DESCRIBE A RESTAURANT

HOW TO DESCRIBE A RESTAURANT?

(TOTAL English p. 72)

Location: It's on the river/on the main square/on a small street/in the centre of ... It's near ...

Atmosphere: Very lively/busy/noisy/romantic/peaceful/relaxing It has a bar/live music ...

Menu: It specialises in ... It's famous for ... The menu is varied/traditional. The food is fresh/good-quality/beautifully-prepared

Service: The service is quite slow. The waiters are very friendly and efficient.

Prices: The prices are reasonable. It's quite expensive.

I decided to describe Jamie's Italian in Buda Castle because that was the last place where I had lunch outside my home before the covid lockdown started.

Let me start with the location of the restaurant: it's in the famous Buda Castle near the most popular landmarks like Matthias Church and Fisherman's Bastion.

Atmosphere: I reckon that the restaurant is very popular with foreign tourists it was packed with people even at the end of February. I guess we very lucky to get a table without reservation. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere, I liked the rustic vibe of the interior. The toilets were impeccably clean.

Menu: The restaurant specialises in Italian food, or rather Brit-Italian food as the owner of the chain is British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. The menu is varied: it offers 'quick nibbles' like garlic bread, giant green olives or rosemary focaccia, antipasti (or starters) like flash-fried prawns and soups, salads, different kinds of pasta and pizza, main courses like sirloin steak or fish stew. Of course they offer a wide variety of desserts and drinks. I highly recommend their non-alcoholic cocktails and homemade lemonade.

Service: Although the restaurant was full and we could hardly see a free table, the service was quite fast and friendly.

Prices: For the overall experience, the food and the service, the 17,000 HUFcost of our lunch for three felt reasonable. There are no big surprises, don't expect Michelin-star cooking. If you like the recipes of the British Tv chef it is worth a try. Cookbooks and kitchen utensils are available for sale at the gift shop.
